Spain still doubtful with their end product

Spain finally made it to the last 16 and their performance from what we were use to was still questionable. Yet again we saw the same style of play as they do in Barcelona FC but the end product was still missing. With the help of Xavi and Ienesta in the starting XI they should have put a crazy but yet competitive Chile to bed.

They made stupid challenges during the entire game which let me to believe that this game was sold before it’s even started. Sorry 🙂 to be so negative but how can a professional team be putting so many stupid tackles with three yellow card in the space of five minutes (16′, 19′ and 21′) with a red card on the 38th minutes which was a very bad call form the referee but seeing Fernando Torres AKA “El Nino” playing act on the field you would have though Marco Estrada walked on him with his boots.

Spain put two goals past Chile with a David Villa (picture above) 45 yards effort after Claudio Bravo needlessly came racing off his line to deal with a long ball and Barcelona’s new signing dispatches the follow-up into the empty net brilliant. The second goal came from a David Villa pass as well who for me was the best player on the night and never stop running and didn’t moaned once.

Chile even reduced to 10 men came back on the 48th minute with a goal from Millar which put the game back on. But it seems as if Spain were satisfied with this score line and didn’t press too much. I would have never guess that Spain wouldn’t press a team reduced to 10men. The introduction of Spanish futur Cesc Fabregas had a more positive impact on the game in term of possession and holding of the ball and burst in action. But the rest of the team didn’t feel the same way and wasn’t pressing as we would have though they would. Is Spain starting to doubt themselves? Does anyone else believe that Spain is not feeling comfortable? Has anyone studied their game and are not scared of them anymore? Switzerland did them good though.

This year World Cup of football is reserving some surprise. Maybe we will have the first African team in the Semis thinking of Ghana? Or in the Final 🙂 well let’s see what will happen :).
