An Entire continent behind the Black Star

Ghana is the only African country representing the African continent in this year World Cup of football after the elimination of the much hopeful Ivory Coast, Cameroon and the hosting country South Africa who started their campaign on the right track. Nigeria followed the exit route as well as Algeria who couldn’t score past the USA on their last game. Unless the other teams, Ivory Coast were a bit unlucky with two successive World Cup going out  the first round at the mercy of Holland and Argentina in 2006 and this year cup Brazil and Portugal. Wish them good luck for the next World Cup.

Ghana in contrast have been facing some arguably average teams Serbia and Australia and of course the black beast Germany who beat them on the final Game. Ghana knew they had to control those two games in order to have a chance to progress which they did in fashion style by beating Serbia with a spot kick thanks to Asamoah Gyan (picture above) who did the same trick to condemn Australia to a draw. The German game were well controlled but it’s very difficult to keep at bay players like Lucas Podolski, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Phillip Lahm and Mesut Özil for 90 minutes without something exceptonal to happen and that’s exactly what happened. And on the 59th minutes, Ozil blasts a 20-yard effort into the top corner. He has been just afforded enough time to pick his spot and he smashed it past the diving Kingson with a beautiful left foot curl ball. You didn’t need to be a German supporter to succumb to this perfection it was a breath taking action.

Even if Ghana didn’t have Chelsea and the world best midfield player in action (Michael Essien picture above top right) we discovered André Ayew (picture above top left). André Ayew is the son of one of the best African player known under the name of Abedi Pélé. Left footed as his dad, André totally dominated the left midfield of Ghana and for most of the gmaes he played had a minimum average of 7.5 out of 10 according to me. He played so well that i hope Arsène Wenger took notice and will have a conversation with his parent club Marseille after the World Cup. He can play as a left midfielder, as a left back, in the center as a second striker and as a striker the exact type of versatile player we need at Arsenal Football Club.

USA vs GHANA will be the game of the day and with all the African support they will receive they should pull it through to the next round. even though USA are not a footballing nation we should pay attention to London Donovan, Clint Dempsey and the rest of their team as they have a never die attitude that makes them pull miracle in the last minute. So far they haven’t lost a game in this year world cup of football and hopefully their first lost will be their last participation in this cup thanks to Ghana.

An entire continent is behind you make Africa Proud and also make African football proud. Wish y’all the best and next time i write an article with Ghana will be about the quarter final 🙂
